Good evening everybody!

On behalf of myself, grnic and the KL team, I would like to give you some wonderful news about the ongoing development of the next generation product.

For over 2.5 years (starting March 2005), the beta testing section of the forum has been actively functioning. Many people took the journey with our development team onto the road of making a better product for everybody alike. Many great ideas had been discussed and some of them already implemented in the current and futurre KL products.

2 months had passed since we started actively discussing your feature requests and suggestions for new lineup of KL products. And now, considering the huge interest that version 8 had sparked among some of the active forum members, we will be publically making interesting information available. It will be published periodically once or twice a week, leading up to the first public beta. Not everything we can disclose for now, however non-technical details will be made publically available in this thread.

1) Personal line up of version 8 products will be released in 2008. Beta testing will start in Winter. Forum testing in Fall.
2) Version 8 is based on in-house new protection concepts and technologies, which have no current analogies on the market as we know it.
3) For now requirements and standards for the first version are completed. The product is in active development stage.
4) The core team contains the same people who brought you version 6.0. However some additional members from 7.0 joined development forces with us.
5) Some improvements planned for v8 will be included in v7 MP1, which will be released by the end of this year.
6) During v8 testing the particular attention will be paid to the forum threads. A separate KL team member will be allocated just for reading your suggestions and bug reports (in addition to all other KL members, which are already present on the forum)
7) In v8 we are planning to use several new technologies, which are developed cooperatively together with KL and other companies
8) The new GUI is again rewritten from scratch. Only small components of v6/7 are utlized
9) The main window is completely brand new and changed as compared to version 7.
10) The number components in the main navigator window is currently counted as six.
11) In the product interface it is planned to use graphical objects for dynamic and additional statistical information display
12) The product plans to utilize several online-services
13) Wi-Fi networks and protection routines will be expanded as compared to previous versions.
14) One of the product option, will perform a through inspection for maximum details through certain defined inspection points.
